spread your wings and soar

The Decision That shaped my Life.

When I was in fifth or sixth grade, I wrote an essay that I didn’t realize would shape my entire future. Back then, I was just a curious girl in Gurgaon, dreaming of something bigger, but not knowing exactly what. Fast forward to after my 12th grade, when the weight of choosing a career settled on my shoulders. I sat with my parents, and we faced a crossroads. My father, seeing my adventurous spark, suggested I become a pilot—while my mother, who watched me as I read local news in Gurgaon from my 10th grade as a part-time job, nudged me toward becoming a news anchor.

There was a reason behind their choices—one I had forgotten until that moment. That essay, which I aced in school, spoke of my desire to “spread my wings and fly.” My father saw that same fire in me; my mother saw my voice growing in the public eye. And so, there I was, standing between two dreams, both so captivating.

In that moment, something stirred inside me—an inexplicable goosebump, a recognition that flying wasn’t just a pastime or a hobby; it was a calling. And so, with a leap of faith, I chose aviation.

I won’t pretend that the road was easy. There were times when I doubted myself, times when the financial pressure or the sheer academic rigor felt overwhelming. But every time I closed my eyes, I returned to that essay, to that little girl who dared to dream of the sky. And today, I’m not just a pilot; I’m a testament to how one forgotten essay can set you on a lifelong adventure.

So to all the aspiring pilots out there, remember: your dream might be hiding in a simple childhood moment, waiting for you to rediscover it. Trust the goosebumps, trust the process, and one day, you’ll spread your wings and soar.
